Altenew Facebook Live: Easy Cards with Dye-Ink Watercoloring

Earlier this week, I hosted a Facebook Live on the Altenew Facebook page, featuring some classic stamps: Wild Hibiscus. Here’s one project from the session—you can watch the replay to see the whole program!

For this card, I simply embossed the Wild Hibiscus image with Golden Peach embossing powder, then colored the flower in with a watery wash of dye inks. Simply press your inkpad onto a craft sheet, mist with water and use a brush to paint in the image. The embossed edges of the design will act as a resist and help hold in your watery ink. I used Deep Iris and Persian Blue for the flower, and Parrot for the leaf.

Once you’ve let the watery ink dry, you can mount the piece on coordinating cardstock and add the stamped sentiment. I wrapped the piece with twine and added a bow. The card base is kraft cardstock but this would work equally well on bright colored card, or white.

Enjoy!
