Couture Songbird Closure Card, what you need—
- Couture Songbird Closure Template, Create and Craft

- Ocean Waves ink, Altenew
- Cardstock: White, blue
- Blue ribbon, blue rhinestones
- Pre-scored blank white card
Couture Songbird Closure Card, how to make it—
- Create a gatefold card: Begin with a pre-scored card blank. Position with the fold on the left. Open it face up. Measure halfway across the left panel and score a line from the top to the bottom. Repeat for the right panel. Fold each flap in to meet the score line in the center of the card blank. Mine measures 6″ square.
- Die cut each of the closure pieces from blue cardstock.
- Use scissors to snip the tiny bridge of paper at the bottom of the wing. This will give you a slit in which to slot the bird’s body.
- Glue the left side of the die-cut piece to the left side of the gatefold card, with the bird’s body extending past the edge of the panel.
- Glue the right side of the die-cut piece to the right side of the gatefold card, with the bird’s wings extending past the edge of the panel.
- Glue patterned paper to each side of the card panels, overlapping the edges of the die-cut pieces. Mat a strip of blue cardstock on white, then glue vertically to each side of the panels. Tie a bow in blue ribbon and glue as shown. Add rhinestones to each side of the card front.
- For the card inside: Cut a piece of striped pattern paper to fit inside the center of the card, covering the score line. Stamp the sentiment with blue ink and glue inside the card.
- To secure the songbird closure, twist each panel of the card front gently and hook the bird’s body into the slit of the wing.
Also—if you choose to die-cut only the bird wing and body, without the intricate border pieces, you’ll create a design like this.
