Ever stamp a large image that’s not quite perfect? It’s still salvageable—and can be put to good use for die-cutting! Take a look:
This die-cut “hello” is stamped with an image from the Blooming Bouquet stamp from Altenew. It’s the large one in the center of the set.
I stamped it with blue and green inks, misting the inks with water before stamping the design onto white cardstock. Then, keeping everything in place on my MISTI, I re-inked the image with Obsidian Black and re-stamped. That gives me a blurry blue/green image, with cool black outlining.
As with lots of misting projects, sometimes the results are perfect and sometimes not-so. So what to do with the not-so-perfect stamped pieces? Die-cutting a large word is one of my favorite ways to put those pieces to use.
Here, I’m using the “hello” die from the Blooming Bouquet set.
I die-cut a second “hello” from black cardstock and glued the two together, slightly offset. This gives a shadow effect, emphasized by the foam tape I used to attach the word to the ink-splattered background.
As for the rest of the card? I kept it super-simple, with just a few gold sequins and a tiny metallic gold embroidery thread bow.
Super-simple… and a great way to put those less-than-perfect pieces to use!
