Love resist effects? Me too! They’re great for adding texture, color and style, especially if you like creating abstract backgrounds for cards and other paper crafts. Today I’ve got an easy technique featuring brayer embossing plus Distress Oxide Reinkers. Keep reading to see more and watch the replay that’s posted below—or pop over to watch on Facebook.
First, roll the brayer on the embossing inkpad, then lightly over white cardstock. You’ll want to leave a lot of white showing since that’s where the color will go. Cover with embossing powder–I’m using Hydrangea from the Parc Floral collection—then heat-set.
Tip: Make sure all of your embossing powder is totally melted before moving on to the next step… otherwise you can end up with unmelted embossing powder particles all over.
Next, decant a bit of your Oxide Reinker onto a craft sheet and mist with water, then use a damp baby wipe to blend the color onto your white cardstock. You can mist directly with water, then wipe any color off the embossed area, which acts as a resist. I’m using Abandoned Coral and Wilted Violet.
The flower and leaf accents are made from white cardstock simply colored with the Distress Oxide Reinkers (including Lucky Clover) and die cut using the Leane Multi Die Flower 014 cutting die set.
The stamped focal sentiment is from the PaperArtsy Eclectica ESN37 stamp set. UK folks can find it here, and US crafters can go here.
The Parc Floral Embossing powder Trio can be found here in the US here, and here in the UK.
