Hi friends! Love the look of striped backgrounds on your cards? Want a super-easy way to make them? Try a stripe stencil + watercolors + a flat paintbrush!
(This is a project I made in last week’s Altenew You Tube Live session.)
Here’s the process: Start with a stripe stencil. I’m using Altenew’s Beach Towel Stripes. Place it onto your cardstock, then use a flat brush (mine is a #16 flat brush from Plaid, which I got at a craft store ages ago) to paint watercolor through the stripes. The trick? The watercolor should be wet enough to paint, but not so watery that it seeps under the stencil. It should feel more like dry-brushing.
I used Citrine metallic watercolor from the Altenew Metallic Watercolor set, which is the darker of the two paint colors you see above.
Be sure to paint in the direction of the stripes.
I also spattered the background with watery Enchanted Gold metallic watercolor.
As for the rose? That’s from the Classic Beauty stamp stamp set, which I layer-stamped with Vanilla Cream, then Almond Butter and Milk Chocolate inks. (These are all from the Delectable Delights mini cube ink set.) The leaf is stamped in Olive. If you want to see the complete demo, please visit the Altenew You Tube channel to watch the replay from last week’s Altenew You Tube session where we played with all kinds of layering techniques.
Have a look—the session is about an hour long, and I share several cards using the Classic Beauty stamp and die collection. Hope you can join us there. 🙂
