Hi friends! Today I’ve got an easy technique for adding a subtle touch to a stamped image with embossing powder.
This technique is a great way to spotlight just a portion of a stamped image.
You can see the shine on just the center area of the branch, right? Surprisingly, that’s Azalea (red!) embossing powder.
Here’s the process: You’ll stamp your image with black pigment ink. I used Altenew’s Obsidian pigment ink. Then use a small metal spoon, the tip of your craft knife or tip of a palette knife to carefully tap powder along the center of the image. Tap off the excess powder and use a small brush to remove any stray particles. Then heat set!
As for the background? That’s a brayer-and-blot background (for lack of a better term!). Simply apply Peachy Keen paint to a piece of white cardstock and brayer it out, not covering all the white. Then add Moon Light and repeat to brayer loosely. Immediately press with a second piece of white cardstock and lift. You’ll have two backgrounds to choose from!
Make sure the paint is totally dry before stamping and embossing… otherwise the embossing powder will stick to the wet paint.
The background of my card is the PS144 stencil on cream cardstock, stamped with images from ESN35 and ESN25. I layered vellum on top to mute the background.
