Grungy Embossed Heart Card

Hello friends! I love a grungy, distressed image, especially one made with soft pastels and sweet scalloped edges. And with a bit of texture and shine (thanks to some glittery embossing powder) we can easily create an eye-catching focal on a very clean and simple card.

First, I started with some PaperArtsy Mattints. This is a matte glaze tinted with color. You can use it to paint images, color backgrounds and even to glue tissue paper to a surface. There are wonderful colors, and so easy to use. For my card, I’m using a brayer to apply color to plain smooth white cardstock.

I used Ladybug. 🙂

When the brayered cardstock was dry, I placed it on my MISTI and then used black pigment ink to stamp the grungy heart from ESN65.

I immediately covered the wet stamping ink with embossing powder.

I’m using my new Glass of Fizz embossing powder, from WOW Embossing.

Tap off the excess, then heat set.

This gives a nicely subtle reddish sparkle and shine—plus texture! Here’s another look:

I then die-cut the cardstock into a series of nested straight and scalloped rectangles, mounting them up on foam tape. I placed the focal on the blank card and then added the “with love” Script Dazzle from Hot Off The Press. Easy!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I’ll be taking a couple of weeks off to visit family in the US and will be back in early April. See you then!
