Hi friends! I hope everyone is hanging in there. As we’re still living with lots of restrictions here in Germany, I thought a “missing you” card might be appropriate—I know there are plenty of people I’m missing these days, and suspect you are too.
This card design has a simple paint-spattered background and easy foiling, all with a clean, uncluttered look. The seashell is a collaged image that can be used as is (you can see it on the stamp set above) but also cut apart to be used in a different way.
First, I used the Distress Splatter Brush to splatter watery paint on the card front. I used Periwinkle, which is a lovely gray-lilac shade and just works perfectly for a gentle color. To splatter, simply put a bit of the paint onto a craft mat and add a little water to make a wash. Use the splatter brush to flick the paint across the surface of the card. Then, set aside to dry.
I also had some strips of cardstock that I brayer-painted with Verdigris, then splattered with Sugar Plum. To brayer-paint, simply put a bit of the paint on your craft mat, roll your brayer through the paint and then across your cardstock. I like to do this with a light touch so some of the white card shows through. I added a bit of silver foiling—again, splattering with paint (any color will work but I used Blue Moon) then immediately placing WOW Fab Foil on top. Pop it under a book until the paint dries, and you’ll have a splattered, foiled look. I glued the strips to the card front.
I stamped the numbers from ESN47 onto the card front too.
The seashell is stamped with black pigment ink onto cardstock that’s been brayer-painted with Sugar Plum. I also added some clear embossing powder, so the lines are crisp and black but still have a raised, dimensional feel. I cut it out and added it to the card front with foam tape, after stamping the “missing you” sentiment. The postmark is stamped separately onto Verdigris-painted cardstock and cut out separately. All three stamps are from the ESN48 stamp set.
