Hi friends! Over the weekend I was playing with my stash of monoprinted backgrounds. I had one piece which has a very faint stenciled image on it, onto which I decided to paint-stamp. I love the look of the very subtle stenciling, and the soft stamping, allowing the black sentiment to stand out.
(Earlier this month I launched new stamps and stencils with PaperArtsy. You can check out the release video here, or pop by the PaperArtsy blog to see loads of project examples.)
The background is a combination of Aqua Duck Egg and Butter paint, blended a lot to create this soft yellow-green, plus some leftover streaks of Peachy Keen from a previous monorprint. The great thing about making lots of prints on a Gelli Plate is that you can pick up older colors left on your plate.
What about the stenciling? Here’s how I got that very faint look:
- Brayer paint onto the Gelli Plate.
- Place the PS204 Postmark stencil onto the wet Gelli Plate. Place scrap paper on top of the stencil and press.
- Lift off the scrap paper.
- Lift off the stencil and set aside.
- Press your cardstock on the Gelli Plate.
I paint-stamped the collaged script from the Eclectica ESN45 set with Elephant. Then I created the focal with a few scraps of book paper, and a bit of Grunge Paste stenciling. The sentiment and words are stamped with black pigment ink, then clear-embossed.
The twine is just wrapped around the cardstock. The piece is then glued to the card front. I added a few flat gold metallic sequins since I like the contrast of shiny with the rustic look of the twine.
Easy! And I love how monoprints can be created so simply, and with such unexpected results.
Thanks for stopping by! And don’t forget: You can check out the release video for the new June 2020 stamps and stencils, or pop by the PaperArtsy blog to see project examples.
See you next time!
