Colored pencils are a go-to coloring medium: They’re easy to find, easy to use and require no drying time. And you can choose premium pencils, or opt for something inexpensive. (I have very often borrowed my 11-year-old’s nubby little pencils!)
The cards I’m showing today use Altenew’s Woodless Watercolor Pencils. Normally, you would use these pencils with water, either coloring the paper and using a damp brush to blend, or taking a wet brush to the tip of the pencil, then painting the paper. However, you can also use these just as pencils! No water required. 🙂
I’m using images from my new PaperArtsy Eclectica ESN63 stamp set. I stamped the designs with Obsidian Black ink for a nice, crisp look, then added simple touches of color. The papers are from 49 and Market, the Naturalist collection.

And another option for a different stamp design:

Little hints of color are all you need. But you can also skip the pencils entirely—with large quote stamps, the text is enough to make the card focal.

I hope you enjoyed these card projects—and maybe they’ve inspired you to bring out your colored pencils and have a go with your next batch of stamping! Enjoy!
