Hello! On Monday I hosted a Live demonstration for Altenew, featuring their Nostalgic Memories Mini Stamp and Die collection, which includes three stamp and die pairs: Mini Gerbera, Mini Magnolia, and Mini Anenome. These are petite florals, measuring 2″x3″, and they are ideal for creating single images on tags or cards, or being grouped together to create larger clusters of florals.
And because they’re outline stamps, they’re perfect for coloring-in techniques!

JUST A NOTE : Using dye-based inks to paint in the image
For this card, I stamped the Mini White Splendour Anemone with Obsidian Black, then clear-embossed them. This gives the images a raised, glossy edge which makes it easier to paint—no smearing or blurring. I’ve used Coral Berry and Frayed Leaf for the Anemone. Afterward, I used a tiny dab of Puffy Heart Metallic Shimmer spray to accent the center of each flower.
The background is the Honeycomb stencil, colored with Frayed Leaf ink and a blending brush.
JUST BECAUSE: Using Artist Markers to color in the image
In this example, I’ve used my Artist Markers for easy coloring. These are alcohol-based markers, which give bright and vibrant color. I first stamped the Magnolia flower with embossing ink, then embossed it with white embossing powder. Then, I colored in the flower with Coral Berry marker and accented the details of the petals with Grapevine. The leaves are colored with Forest Glades, and accented with Evergreen.
The background of the card is some simple splattering with the Puffy Heart Metallic Shimmer spray. Rather than spraying the spray, I unscrew the top of the bottle and use the tube inside to splatter.
For the sequins, I use liquid glue, then place an acrylic block on top to hold them in place while the glue dries.
CONGRATS: Using Watercolor Brush Markers to color in the image
What can I say—I love the Watercolor Brush Markers for painting in images. Here I’ve stamped the Gerbera and clear-embossed them before coloring in with markers from the Tropical Fiesta set. I colored the leaves with Lime, then colored the flowers with Fresh Lemon and Purple Wine.
The background is a reverse-stenciling technique, where I applied Lime Waterbrush Marker on the Beach Towel Stripes stencil, then misted it lightly with water and placed the cardstock on top. Lift and you have a very cool watercolor stripe effect!
YOUR KINDNESS: No color at all!
Sometimes an outline floral image just looks amazing even without coloring. Here I stamped the Anemone flower and leaves with black, then clear-embossed them, die-cut them and popped them up with foam tape. The background is the Flowing Drops stencil, colored with Frayed Leaf.
The sentiment here is from the Sentiments & Quotes stamp set, one of my all-time favorites!
