Happy Wednesday! Today I want to share one of the projects I made in Monday’s Altenew Facebook Live session. If you didn’t catch it live, you can still watch it on the Altenew Facebook page.
This card features two easy embossing techniques: First, brayering embossing ink onto kraft cardstock, then heat setting and die cutting into an ornament shape for the card focal. Second, partially embossing the laurel leaves you see as the background. Both techniques are super easy and give more options for your embossing powders!
Altenew Buon Natale Embossed Card, what you need—
Inks: Embossing Ink, Forest Glades
Stamp set: Layered Laurel, Peace on Earth
Cutting dies: Peace on Earth die
Embossing powder: Golden Peach
Cardstock: White, green, kraft
Gold thread
Foam tape
Altenew Buon Natale Embossed Card, how to make it—
Place a piece of kraft cardstock on your work surface. Remove the lid from the embossing ink pad and press the ink directly onto the cardstock. Sprinkle with Golden Peach, tap off the excess and heat set. Die cut into the ornament shape. Thread gold embroidery thread through the hole at the top of the ornament.
For the background: Use Forest Glades to randomly stamp the laurel leaf base stamp on white cardstock. Stamp the overlapping laurel leaf layer with embossing ink. Sprinkle with Golden Peach, tap off excess and heat set.
Trim the stamped cardstock piece and mat on green. Use foam tape to adhere the ornament to the stamped piece, wrapping the thread to the back of the stamped piece.
Mat on white card, leaving a 1” border at the bottom. Stamp the sentiment at the bottom right with Forest Glades. Mat on green card, then glue to the card base.
Add a bow tied in embroidery thread.
That’s it—easy! If you missed the Facebook Live, you can pop over to the Altenew Facebook page and watch it there.
