Today on Studio SN on You Tube: Brayering with Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refills!
Okay, I’m a *little* obsessed with this technique. Not only because it’s super easy, and a great way to use alcohol ink, but also because it’s fast and a really fun way to create a background that’s totally unique. It gives you layers without bulk and you can use the background for die-cutting, stamping, embossing and so much more! Can you tell I’m a little enthusiastic?
(It’s true I don’t get out much. But still.)
Okay, so here’s what you need for this week’s technique:
– TB4 and PL1 Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refills from Crafter’s Companion (those in the UK can get them straight from Crafter’s Companion; if you’re in the US or Canada, check out Paper Wishes)
– Matte white cardstock: Neenah Classic Crest card from Crafter’s Companion
– Rubbing alcohol spray
– Craft sheet
– Mini Rubber Brayer: Inky Roller from Ranger
– Botanical Foil 3-D Papier Tole from Hot off The Press
– Artful Collection stamps from Hot Off The Press
– Jet Black Archival ink from Ranger
– Foam tape
– Pink cardstock
– Twine, blue sheer ribbon
Here’s how to make it:
1. Spritz your craft sheet with rubbing alcohol. Add a little TB4 alcohol ink refill, then immediately run the brayer through the ink and onto your cardstock. Continue until the cardstock is as colorful as you wish.
2. Spritz the colored cardstock with a bit more rubbing alcohol to create a subtle spattered effect.
3. Mat the two long edges with pink cardstock. Tie twine and blue sheer ribbon together in a knot, then wrap around the piece, securing the ends to the front of the card. Glue to the card front, trimming excess cardstock.
4. Follow instructions to create the papier tole focal, using foam tape to attach it to the card front. Foam-tape two butterflies as shown.
5. Brayer white cardstock with PL1, then stamp Important with black. Cut out and foam-tape to the floral piece.
That’s it—easy! To see the step-by-step tutorial, please stop by Studio SN on You Tube to watch Brayering with Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refills!
