Today on Studio SN: Cardmaking with Treasure Gold and Eclectica Stamps!
Treasure Gold from PaperArtsy is a very cool metallic wax that’s easy to apply to card backgrounds for soft, shimmery effects. A tiny pot will go a long way as just a touch will add a gorgeous lustre to cardstock. You can apply it with a dry brush or an old towel—two application techniques I share here.
One tip: You will need to heat-set the Treasure Gold briefly after application, to help the wax sort of “settle” into the cardstock. Then you can stamp on it or even heat-emboss as well.
Let’s take a look!
Cardmaking with Treasure Gold and Eclectica Stamps, what you need—
• Treasure Brass, Treasure Silver Treasure Gold (PaperArtsy)
• Eclectica ESN18 stamps (PaperArtsy)
• Blush Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paint (PaperArtsy)
• Cardstock: White matte, blue, black
• Jet Black Archival ink (Ranger)
• Embossing ink
• WOW! Gold Pearl Regular embossing powder
• Heat tool
• Brayer
• Black brads
• Gold metallic cord
• Foam tape
• Old towel or rag
• Old paintbrush
• Scrap paper
Cardmaking with Treasure Gold and Eclectica Stamps, how to do it—
1.Use the brayer to apply Blush paint across a piece of white cardstock. Let dry.
2. Dip the bristles of the brush into the Treasure Brass and scrub excess off onto scrap paper. Dry-brush it across the painted background in a horizontal motion.
3. Briefly heat-set the background, then use an old towel to buff.
4. Stamp the sheet misuc and text with black ink. Let dry. Stamp the bird, “the silent night”, and script with embossing ink. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat-set.
5. Wrap the old towel around your finger and dip into the Treasure Silver. Scrub off excess onto scrap paper. Apply in a circular motion around the bird. Briefly heat-set, then buff off excess as before.
6. Edge the top and bottom of the cardstock with embossing ink, then add gold embossing powder and heat-set. Mat on black cardstock and add brads and gold cord.
7. Dry brush white cardstock with Treasure Silver and stamp “holiness and beauty” with black. Trim, then foam-tape to the card front.
8. Cover the card front with blue cardstock. Glue the mounted piece to the front.
