Today on Studio SN on You Tube: Cardmaking with Gesso and Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Refills!
It’s easy to get custom-colored background by tinting gesso with alcohol ink. Use your mixture to create beautiful abstract backgrounds, or use it through stencils for additional pattern and focal points.
Cardmaking with Gesso and Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Refills, what you need:
Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refill: CR8 (Crafter’s Companion)
Stamps: Eclectica ESN11 from PaperArtsy
Jet Back Archival Ink (Ranger)
Stencil: Cathedral of Love by Rebekah Meier from The Crafter’s Workshop
Palette knife from Faber-Castell
White, black cardstock
Black baker’s twine
Foam tape
Color Blender from Clearsnap
Craft sheet
Black fine-tip pen
Plastic palette
Cardmaking with Gesso and Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Refills, how to do it:
1. Mix gesso with a few drops of CR8 alcohol ink refill and blend with the palette knife.
2. Place the hearts portion of the stencil on a piece of white cardstock and use the foam blending tool to apply mixture through the stencil. Lift off and let dry. Use a black fine-tip pen to draw sketchy outlines around the hearts, then stamp the ledger numbers onto the hearts with black. Mat on black cardstock and add a bow of baker’s twine.
3. Use the palette knife to apply one horizontal stripe across another piece of white cardstock. Place the pattern portion of the stencil in various areas and use the blending tool to apply mixture through it to create an abstract background.
4. Hold the bottle of CR8 over the stenciled background; tap your hand to get a spatter effect. Let dry. Stamp the script twice—once vertically, and once horizontally—with black ink. Stamp “a loving heart” with black. Tip: Position the heart focal point to guide in the stamping placement.
5. Mount the top and bottom with black cardstock, trim to the size of the card front and wrap with baker’s twine before gluing it to the card. Use foam-tape to secure the focal to the card front.
