Today on Studio SN on You Tube: How to do a Masking Fluid Resist!
I was in an art supply store recently and came across some masking fluid. I thought, I wonder what I can do with this? The wheels started turning, so I bought a bottle and discovered that you can create some really fun resist techniques using masking fluid and a wet medium!
How to do a Masking Fluid Resist, what you need—
- Masking Fluid (Winsor & Newton)
- Spectrum Noir AquaTints™ (aqua)
- Bubble wrap
- Inside Outside Dazzles™ stickers (Hot Off The Press/Paper Wishes)
- Cardstock: white, lavender, black
- Water mister
- Paper towel
- Buttons
- Flat paintbrush
- White cord
- Teal ribbon
- Foam tape
- Kraft card blank
How to do a Masking Fluid Resist, how to do it—
1. Use a flat paintbrush to apply liquid masking fluid to a piece of bubble wrap. Stamp onto white cardstock and let it air-dry. Note: You don’t want to use a heat tool with this!
2. Use a paintbrush to apply #02 aqua color of AquaTint™ ink to the stamped piece. Blot with paper towel, then spritz with water. Allow the ink to react with the water, then blot again. Let dry, then rub off the masking fluid. Here’s a closer look:
3. Mat on white cardstock, then lavender, white and black cardstock.
4. Wrap with white cord, then glue to the front of a kraft card blank. Apply the Happy Birthday stickers to white cardstock and mat on lavender. Foam-tape to the card front. Stack two white buttons overlapping and glue. Add a piece of knotted teal ribbon as shown.
