Super cute, super easy and super versatile—little washi tape embellishments are ideal for handmade cards! This card is for birthday but of course you could swap it up for Christmas or any occasion.
What you’ll need:
• Washi tape: Black with crosses (Maste) and solid pink (MT)
• Black pen: Staedtler .5 Pigment Liner
• Stamps: Birthday Greetings (Hot Off The Press)
• Embossing ink, heat tool
• Fluorescent Tickled Pink Regular Embossing Powder (WOW Embossing Powder) UK peeps, you can visit the WOW UK home page for info; US and Canadians, try the US site.
• White, black cardstock
• Mini price tag
• Silver grosgrain ribbon
• Self adhesive rhinestones
• Foam tape
Here’s how to make it:
1. Cut a piece of cardstock the size of your gift package (mine is 2 1/2″ x 4″). Apply diagonal strips of washi tape, starting in the center. Leave a narrow space of white showing between each strip.
2. Turn the cardstock over, burnish the tape firmly and trim off extra tape. Mat the piece on black. Place ribbon vertically on the package and wrap around the top and bottom, then tie a bow in another piece of ribbon and glue as shown. Add three self-adhesive rhinestones. Draw a heart on a white mini price tag, then wrap around the bow and secure the tag with foam tape.
3. Stamp and emboss the “celebrate” stamp onto a blank white card. Use the black pen to draw a frame around all four sides of the card front. Add a self-adhesive rhinestone at each corner. Use foam tape to adhere the gift package to the center of the card front.
Of course you can swap out the colors of tape, and even the orientation of the gift packages, to create a washi tape embellishment that’s perfect for your card theme!
