Hi friends and happy Wednesday to you! This week the schools are closed for autumn holiday, so I’ve just got time to share a quick card adaptation from one of the projects in my Sara’s Stamping Techniques book. This one is using a variety of ink colors to do some layer stamping. Have a look! If you like this, you might also like my stamping book, out now as an e-book and print-on-demand.
Layering stamps are designed to create dimension with different ink colors all combined on one stamped image. You’re stamping components of a single image, one on top of the other. It sounds a bit complicated but it’s easy to do and you can usually make variations by swapping out colors, adding an embossed layer, or simply leaving out a layer if you wish.
I really recommend a stamp positioner for this technique. If you find it challenging to get perfect placement, then the MISTI is a great help.
Layered Stunning Cosmos Flower, you will need:
Stamps: Stunning Cosmos (Altenew)
Stamping ink: Ocean Waves, Dusk, Warm Sunshine, Dark Chocolate, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades (Altenew)
Cardstock: White, yellow, blue, brown
White blank card
Hemp twine
Pearl embellishments
Stamp positioner (optional but helpful!)
Here’s a look at the Stunning Cosmos stamps from Altenew.
Layered Stunning Cosmos Flower, how to make it—
1. Use Ocean Waves to stamp the silhouette of the flower onto white cardstock. Position the detail flower stamp on top and stamp with Dusk.
2. Use Warm Sunshine to stamp the center of the flower. Stamp the detail of the flower center with Dark Chocolate.
3. Position the stalk stamp in place. Ink with Frayed Leaf and stamp. Use Forest Glades to stamp the stem detail.
4. Trim and ink the edges with Ocean Waves. Mat on blue and brown cardstock. Glue to the card front.
5. Use Dark Chocolate to stamp the sentiment overlapping the stem.
6. Tie a bow in hemp twine and glue as shown. Add pearl embellishments as shown.
