Today on Studio SN on You Tube: Painting with Dylusions!
You know you can use your color sprays for spraying—but did you know you can also use them for detail painting? Yep, just unscrew the top of your color spray and add a drop of color to your craft sheet, then use a small brush to paint in stamped images.
Here’s what you need:
– Dylusions color spray: Funky Fuchsia, Polished Jade, Dirty Martini (Ranger)
– Flower stamp: HP1203 (PaperArtsy)
– Primary Bark embossing powder (WOW Embossing Powder) Find them at their UK or US sites.
– Watermark Resist inkpad (Ranger)
– Heat tool
– Mini mister (Ranger)
– Stipple brush (Faber-Castell)
– White cardstock (Neenah Classic Crest from Crafter’s Companion)
– Green check ribbon
– Colored cardstock: black, green, pink
– Blank card
– Craft sheet (Ranger)
– Fine-tip paintbrush
Here’s how to do it:
1. Stamp the flower on white cardstock, then heat-emboss with brown.
2. Unscrew the cap from the Funky Fuchsia Dylusions bottle, then place a small dot onto the craft sheet. Spritz water next to the dot of color spray, then use the paintbrush to pick up a bit of water and a bit of color. Color the stamped flower, letting the raised edges of the embossed design guide your brush tip. Add more color if desired, adjusting the ratio of color spray to water.
3. Repeat to color the leaves and stems with Polished Jade. Repeat again with Dirty Martini.
4. Add more water to the craft sheet. Use the stipple brush to pick up water and the two green colors, then spatter onto the cardstock.
5. Let dry, then mount on black, green and pink cardstock. Tie a knot in a piece of green ribbon, then wrap around the piece. Glue to the card front.
So simple! And yes, you can use this technique with other color sprays, too. It’s a great way to make them do double-duty.
