Today on Studio SN: Stamping & Embossing with Eclectica stamps and Fresco Finish paint!
It’s always fun to add a touch of sparkle and shine to your cards—and this technique makes it easy.
PaperArtsy’s Fresco Finish paints are chalky and matte, and their consistency and quick dry time means they’re perfect for what I think of as “half-embossing”—where the color of the embossing medium (here, the paint) shows through and the embossing powder sticks to only portions of the stamped design. It gives a weathered, gilded effect that I just love. I’m combining it with the Eclectica ESN09 stamp set.
1. Brayer the card front with Spanish Mulberry Fresco Finish. While wet, sprinkle with glitter embossing powder. Tap off the excess and heat-set.
2. Squeeze Guacamole and Mermaid Fresco Finish paints onto the manila tag and brayer lightly, without overblending. Let dry, then streak on Grunge Paste with a palette knife. You want it a bit textured but not too much so you can still stamp on it. Let dry.
3. Use a cosmetic wedge to apply Spanish Mulberry Fresco Finish onto the starburst and border. Stamp onto the tag and immediately sprinkle with metallic gold embossing powder. Repeat with the spatter stamp. Tap off excess and heat-set.
4. Paint a sheet of book paper with Mushroom Fresco Finish. Let dry, then stamp the sentiment at the bottom with Jet Black Archival ink.
5. For the card assembly: Glue the tag to the book page, then mat on white cardstock. Wrap with sheer green ribbon and add a button. Glue to the card front.
I hope you enjoyed the project as much as I did! Remember, you can see a video tutorial for this project on Studio SN or check out the PaperArtsy You Tube channel.
Oh yes, and if you’re inspired by the new Eclectica stamps, you can pick them up at your favorite PaperArtsy stockist in the UK or Europe—if you’re in the US or Canada, The Frantic Stamper has all of them in stock.
