Hi friends! Today I have two quick and easy cards for you, using some cutting dies to create a floral focal. I’m using a new-to-me die set from Paper Wishes called Frosted Flowers; they’re originally designed to make winter flowers, but I think they’re also perfect for spring.
My absolute favorite elements in the die set, though, are the leaves… these are ideal for so many different card designs, whether you use them with the flowers or not.
There are two flower shapes. Simply die cut the base layer (here, in black) and then the top detail layer (shown in white) and then glue the two together. I’ve also shown some of the leaves, which can be tucked underneath the flowers to create a bouquet.
For this card, I combined the Frosted Flowers with a square scallop nested die to make a white-on-white floral focal. The patterned paper is from the Flower Queen 6×6 pack, and the various green shades of cardstock are pulled from my leftovers stash. To add more depth to the blossoms, I layered two of the top, detail die cuts on top of the base piece.
I also have a script Dazzle sticker at the bottom for my card sentiment.
Contrasting cardstock colors are also effective with layering. (And this is always a great way to use the cardstock scraps you may have in your stash!)
I inked around the outside edge of the card with metallic gold, to add some shading against the black patterned paper. Another script Dazzle is at the bottom.
Super simple, easy and elegant—I hope you enjoyed the cards and I’ll see you again next week!
