Sara Naumann Acrylic Paint and Relique ICE Resin earrings

These fun speckled earrings add texture and dimension to a clean and simple earring design. (The yellow and chartreuse colour combo means they look fabulous with a navy top!)

Speckled Yellow Earrings with ICE Resin®, what you need—

  • ICE Resin® two-part epoxy (includes cup and stir stick)
  • Disposable gloves
  • Baby wipes
  • Yellow acrylic paint (Ranger Distressed Squeezed Lemonade)
  • Green powder—Chartreuse Relique Powder
  • Silver toggle clasp
  •  2 round silver bezels with loops—20mm (inner dimensions)
  •  2 silver ear wires
  • 2 silver jump rings—5mm
  • Tools: Chain nose pliers
  • Craft sheet
  • Raised, flat surface (I use an old cutting board)

Speckled Yellow Earrings with ICE Resin®, how to make it—

1. Place the bezels on a raised, flat surface with the loops hanging over the edge.

2. Mix the resin, then add yellow paint. Start with one drop of paint. Mix well, then add 2-3 more drops, depending on the amount of resin you’ve mixed.

About mixing paint with resin: I like acrylic paint because it’s widely available, comes in lots of fabulous colors and it’s inexpensive. I use Ranger’s paint because it’s what I already have in my crafting stash (and I love the colors) but you can use any acrylic paint you have on hand. You only need a few drops of paint mixed with your resin. It doesn’t take much to make the mixture thick and very opaque.

2. Use a small scoop to add Relique powder into the resin mix. Stir, then add more powder as desired.

About Reliques: This is a chunky powder from ICE Resin. Originally developed for cold-enameling, it’s also great for combining with resin. Each jar has a mixture of chunky and fine elements; some colours have black particles included as well. A tiny spoon comes in handy for scooping the powder into the resin. If you don’t have one, simply circle-punch a piece of sturdy cardstock, fold it in half and use it as a scooper.

3.  Pour the resin mixture into the bezels. Let cure.

4. Use the pliers to open a jump ring and slip on the cured bezel and the ear wire. Close the jump ring. Repeat for the second earring.
