Hi friends! Today I wanted to share with you an adaptation of a project from my latest book, Sara’s Stamping Techniques: Acrylic Block Stamping.
https://www.facebook.com/sara.naumann.75/videos/10217734615019576/
Here’s a peek at the original project, which has three squares stamped as the background. Those squares are actually just acrylic stamping blocks that have been inked and stamped onto the background. It’s so easy and a great way to create a spotlight effect for the other elements on your card.
And since we’re making adaptations, I thought I’d add in a little subtle shimmer with some Blue Pearl embossing powder from WOW.
Okay, so let’s take a look at what you need—
– Clear acrylic block (mine is 3″ x 2″)
– Pigment inkpad: Aquamarine Crafter’s Ink from Clearsnap
– Blue Pearl embossing powder (WOW Embossing)
– Stamps: Doodled Butterflies & Leaves (That’s Crafty!), EM20 (PaperArtsy)
I also used a waterbrush to add the spattered effect in the background.
And here’s how to do it—
Press the pigment inkpad onto the acrylic block. Mist with water, then stamp onto cardstock. I’m using watercolor cardstock but you can also use smooth.
While the ink is wet, add some Pearl Blue embossing powder. Tap off the excess and heat set.
Mat onto black, then teal cardstock. Make a watery wash of Aquamarine ink onto a craft sheet, then use a waterbrush or paintbrush to spatter the background. Once that’s dry, add the matted piece in the center. Wrap twice with baker’s twine.
Stamp the butterfly with black, cut out and add to the card with foam tape. Stamp “thank you” with black, mat on black cardstock and glue as shown.
Finish with a bow tied in baker’s twine and some pearl accents.
Here’s another look at the card:
And here’s a look at my co-workers, who were really quiet and snoozed through the whole video. (Can you tell how happy Shadow is to share “her” box with Tabby?)
Happy Thursday, friends!
