Sara’s Stamping Techniques: Coloring with Paint Pens

Sara Naumann Dylusions paint pensHi friends and happy Wednesday! Today I want to share an easy adaptation of a project from my book Sara’s Stamping Techniques. This is a twist on the Paint Pen technique and even features the same JOFY63 stamp from PaperArtsy.

Paint pens offer the vibrancy of acrylic paint, but in an easy-to-use pen format.

Ranger’s Dylusions pens have a fine tip designed for journaling, which makes them ideal for coloring in small areas of a stamped image.

Autumn Card, you will need:

Stamps: JOFY63 (PaperArtsy)

Stamping ink: Jet Black Archival, Mustard Seed Distress Ink (Ranger)

Paint pens: Dylusions Squeezed Orange, Lemon Zest (Ranger)

Brayer

Water mister

Cardstock: White, black, red, kraft

White blank card

Twine

Foam tape

Craft sheet

Rhinestones

Autumn Card, how to make it:

Press Mustard Seed ink onto a crafts sheet. Spritz with water. Roll the brayer through the watery ink, then into white cardstock. When it dries, use black ink to stamp the flowers in the center.

Use the Squeezed Orange paint pen to color the flowers and Lemon Zest to color the stalks and flower base. Note: I colored the image with a scribbling effect to match the hand-drawn look of the stamp.

Trim the piece and mat on red, white and black. Wrap the corner with twine.

Cut kraft cardstock to size. Use black ink to stamp the blossoms randomly around the outer edges of the cardstock. Color them with the Squeezed Orange paint pen.

Mat on black cardstock and glue to the card front. Add the stamped focal in the center with foam tape.

Tie a knot in twine and glue as shown. Add rhinestones around the flowers.

Enjoy! And if you want more stamping ideas, please check out Sara’s Stamping Techniques, available as an e-book from Bella Crafts.
