Saturday with Sara Webisode: Cardmaking Tips & Techniques with Willow

I adore papers from 49 and Market, so it’s always a pleasure to get their newest collections as my assignment for my Saturday with Sara Webisode! This time, I’m playing with the Willow collection of papers and embellishments (laser-cut paper, rub-ons and acetate). Have a look!

The Sending Smiles card (left) features an acetate floral focal on a nested, scalloped die cut circle. The patterned paper is from the paper pack, and a simple jute twine bow and Dazzle sticker are really all I need.

For the You Deserve card (right) I have another large acetate piece, glued to patterned paper that’s been embellished with rub-ons.

A question that often comes up around clear acetate is, how do I glue this? Well, I just use touches of stick glue on the areas that are darkest—like the leaves. A little dab will do the trick.

More flowers to come with these cards—

For the Happy Day card (right), I have a large acetate floral placed on a frame embellishment, then glued to the center of this Circular Step Card.

For the Smile (left) card, the large focal flower is a layered die-cut. The bottom white flower is cut from plain white cardstock, and the flower on top is cut from white cardstock with a rub-on applied. The leaves are acetate and laser-cuts. And the Smile word is another die-cut, made from glitter cardstock.

I love the Circular Step cutting die! It’s simple to use and makes a really fun card base. Side note: When I taught an after-school art club for fifth graders, the kids loved using this die for their cards!
