The big annual Mega Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) show is this week—if you’re not headed there yourself as a retailer, distributor, designer, sales rep or other industry person, then you’ll definitely be hearing about it as the newest crafting products and techniques debut on the show floor. Get ready, because this is going to be all over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
I’m headed off this Thursday (a mere 19hour flight from Poland to LA!). If you’re also on the way to CHA, maybe I’ll see you on the show floor or at some of the workshops I’m presenting.
Feel free to join me!
Sunday, January 11 at 10:00—Strategic Planning for Solopreneurs
Ah, planning! If you’re a solopreneur (especially a designer!) and looking to build a structure for your business, this is for you. I’ll share tactics for planning a business strategy that incorporates your creative work as well as your lifestyle. We’ll discuss your definition of success, your strengths and competitive advantages and start goal-planning for the year to come.
(If you’re in Europe or the UK and won’t make it to the show, I’m teaching this same seminar at the CHA-UK Creative Exchanges International Conference in Birmingham, UK in the spring.)
Monday, January 12 at 10:00—How to Get Published in Magazines
A topic dear to my heart! This is another good one for designers. If you’re looking to get your work in print, join me as I give you step-by-step information on the magazine submission process, from proposal to publication.

If you’d like to attend one of these workshops, please note that you can sign up at show registration. The workshops are free to CHA members, so this is a great chance to take advantage of your membership!
And if you’re a stamp retailer, be sure to check out my class at the Clearsnap booth on Tuesday, January 13. The first session is 10:00-10:45; the second is 1:00-1:45. We’ll be working with Art Screen stencils, embossing powders and pigment inks, creating 2 cards you can teach, use as display samples or re-create as in-store demos. Contact April at Clearsnap (contact@clearsnap.com) for details.
And if you’re not coming to the show? Don’t worry—I’ll have camera in hand and will be sure to share lots of photos of new products, techniques, ideas and excitement as I hit the show floor.
Happy Monday!
From Poland to Oregon, back to Poland, then to California. That’s a very heavy travel schedule.
Yes, it is, Barbara! But there’s a big difference between that trip with a small child and without—19 hours on a plane by myself feels like a vacation!
