Special Valentine Post: My 4 Most Loved Craft Tools

Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day! A day of romantic love, possibly? Well, whether or not you’re celebrating with a loved one, it’s always good to take stock of the things we love. In this case, the craft supplies we love.

Here are my four most loved craft tools—basically, the ones I never put away. I can’t imagine crafting without them. Take a look!

Most Loved Craft Tools #1: Paper trimmer

Can you really paper craft without one? Mine is a Fiskars 12″ which is so old I can’t even find it online any more. It basically looks like this one:

Most Loved Craft Tools #2: Waterbrush

I use these for so many water-based techniques, from painting with stamping ink to mixed media backgrounds to spattering. I love them because they don’t crack or splinter with water use (the way wood-handle paintbrushes do) and because they have such perfect nibs. I get them by the bundle and can never have too many. Most of mine are Kuretake.

Most Loved Craft Tools #3: Craft Sheet

I can’t craft without it. It protects my work surface from paint, ink, resin and just about everything else too. Even better, I can use it as a palette. I have several—one for each of my work surfaces and some dedicated only to resin work. They’re easy to clean and mine (from Ranger) have lasted years.

Most Loved Craft Tools #4: Stamp Positioner

I honestly thought these were a gimmick when they first came out. Then I had to use one on-air on Create and Craft and figured I’d better give it a go before demonstrating it on live television! To my surprise, I found I absolutely loved it. Not just for basic stamping, but also (especially!) for layered stamps like those from Altenew. And yes, you can also use the clear plastic stamp positioners as palettes too. My positioner is the Solid Load N Fold by Rare Earth.

What are your most loved craft tools? Do any of my favorites make your list?

Wishing you a fun, craft-filled Valentine’s Day!
