Hi friends, today I’m having a look at some of my favorite PaperArtsy card-making techniques—this time, it’s a simple paint-brayered background with stenciling, stamping and foiling.
I’m using the following:
- Every Leaf stamp: PaperArtsy Eclectica ESN41
- Circles stencil: PaperArtsy PS176
- Acrylic paints: Globe Thistle, Marbles, Khaki, Mermaid
- Brayer
- Gold Foil: WOW! Embossing
- Splatter brush: Ranger
You’ll brayer Khaki lightly onto a piece of white cardstock—leave plenty of white showing. When that’s dry, use black ink (I used Ranger’s Jet Black Archival) to stamp the script and leaf image. Next, place the stencil on top and stencil a portion with a watery wash of Globe Thistle. Let that dry, then splatter with watery Marbles. While the paint is still wet, press a piece of gold foil on top and smooth. I like to put this under a book or my cutting mat so there’s some pressure.
Stamp the sentiment onto an oval die-cut piece and splatter with watery Marbles. Edge with Globe Thistle and let dry.
After a few minutes, gently peel up the foil on your background piece and you’ll see you’ve got some partially-foiled dots of paint—a beautiful effect! Edge the piece with Mermaid and adhere to a card front. Add the oval with foam tape.
PaperArtsy stamps, stencils and paints are available at select PaperArtsy retailers. In the UK, try Country View Crafts, and in the US you can try Frantic Stamper.
