Technique of the Month: Eclectica Bee Partial Embossing

This technique is a big favorite with me—I love how embossing just a random area of a stamped design creates shine and dimension…and how you can be totally imperfect with the application! (Whew!)

Eclectica Bee Partial Embossing, how to do it—

Note: For this card, I’m using Sunshine pigment ink, and Sunshine Iridescent medium. The Sunshine ink is used to ink the edges of the cardstock pieces; the Sunshine medium is used to paint in the bee. The difference between the ink and the medium is that the medium will give a very shimmery effect!

Ink the bumblebee stamp with Ocean Breeze, then in some areas with Blueberry. Stamp onto smooth cardstock. Immediately sprinkle some areas with embossing powder. Tap off excess and heat set.

Press Sunshine ink onto the craft sheet. Spritz with water, then spatter onto the stamped cardstock. Sprinkle with embossing powder; tap off the excess and heat set.

Make a watery wash of the Sunshine Iridescent medium, then paint in the bumblebee.

Edge the cardstock with Sunshine ink, then emboss the edges with gold. Mount onto teal, then onto white cardstock, tearing the bottom edge. Wrap with twine, then add a twine bow.

Cover the card blank with patterned paper. Ink the edges heavily with Sunshine ink, then emboss with gold. Glue the focal piece to the card front.
