What’s the one card theme I am *always* making? Thank you cards!
Whether for friends or as part of the volunteer work I do, there always seems to be a “make X’s thank you card” on my to-do list. And as I’ve been working on a lot of thank-you cards this month, I notice that I’m using rub-ons as my card focals quite often. After all, they’re easy to use, lay flat when going through the mail, and these sunflower designs are just beautiful. Win-win-win!
Today, I’m sharing two easy cards which work perfectly as thank-you designs… but with messages that could easily swap out to be “happy birthday” or “thinking of you”.
Supplies are all pulled from my stash of 49 and Market Countryside collection of papers, laser-cut images and rub-ons. I’ve also used Altenew’s Many Thanks stamp set, which is a my all-time favorite stamp set for thank you cards.
Let’s have a look! First, the Note of Thanks Sunflower card:
Here’s how I made it:
First, cover the card front with the patterned paper, then add the faux-lace laser cut along the left side.
Next, add the sunflower rub-on to white cardstock.
Stamp “note of thanks” onto patterned paper.
Die-cut the sentiment with a banner die. I also die cut the same banner shape from black cardstock and layered the two together, slightly offset.
Then, add a green frame die cut and a heart laser-cut and arrange them on the card to determine the placement. Here’s a look at my work in progress—
Here’s the card again—
Here’s the second card, Thanks a Bunch—
I’ve also covered the card front with patterned paper, and added a second, slightly narrower piece in the center. I’ve inked the edges with light brown ink, for some easy shading.
The sunflower focal is a rub-on is applied to cream cardstock, then framed with a white die-cut.
I stamped the thank-you sentiment on patterned paper and die-cut the layers as before.
Then, I added the framed focal, a butterfly laser cut and the sentiment to the card front. Here’s another look—
I hope you enjoyed these easy cards! See you next time!
