Washi Tape Tuesday: Bubble Wrap Stamping on Washi Tape

washi-tape-sara-naumann

Welcome to Washi Tape Tuesday! Love washi tape? (Or maybe you have a stash that you want to put to use?) Then join me for tips, techniques and ideas for adding washi tape to your handmade cards!

I made this card background—a combination of alcohol ink, washi tape and stamped paint—when I was experimenting for a completely different project. It didn’t work for the magazine article I was writing, but it was such a cool background, I thought I could use it elsewhere. So here you are…nothing is ever wasted around here!

The best thing is that it’s so easy and fast. Simply brayer Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refill across a piece of white cardstock, then add washi tape strips. Apply white acrylic paint to bubble wrap and stamp. It takes a minute or two to dry, then you can stamp your sentiment, add an embellishment and you’re set to go.

What you need:

– CR8 Spectrum Noir alcohol ink refill (Crafter’s Companion in the US or Crafter’s Companion in the UK)

– Washi tape: lavender, purple narrow (MT)

Eclectica ESN06 stamps (PaperArtsy)

– White acrylic paint

– Bubble wrap

– White, off-white cardstock

– Mini brayer

– Spritz bottle of rubbing alcohol

– Black inkpad

– Foam tape

– Silk flower, brad, small tag

– Black permanent pen

– Craft sheet

Bubble Wrap Stamping on Washi Tape Card: How to make it—

1. Squeeze a small amount of alcohol ink refill onto your craft sheet. Spritz lightly with rubbing alcohol, then brayer across a piece of white cardstock.

2. Apply vertical strips of washi tape, alternating colors.

3. Brayer white paint onto a piece of bubble wrap and stamp onto the cardstock. Let dry, then use black ink to stamp “a secret sense of time”. Mount on off-white cardstock, then glue to the card front.

4. Insert a brad in a silk flower, then glue to the card front. Use a black pen to draw a heart on a mini price tag, then wrap around the brad as shown, securing the tag to the card front with foam tape.

That’s it—easy!
