Welcome to Washi Tape Tuesday! Love washi tape? (Or maybe you have a stash that you want to put to use?) Then join me for tips, techniques and ideas for adding washi tape to your handmade cards!
Today I’m ready for spring with a quick and easy washi tape card design. I’ve created a stripey background with patterned tape and overlapping solid tape–because they’re both translucent, the pattern and colors create dimension and depth. It doesn’t matter how much you overlap, either…you basically can’t make a mistake with this design!
Spring Chickadee Washi Tape Card, what you need:
– Washi tape: Verdant green solid, flower green (MT)
– Chickadee stamp: Inkadinkado
– Spectrum Noir alcohol pens: BT2, CG2, DG2 (Crafter’s Companion)
– White, green, black cardstock
– Black dye ink
– Green sheer ribbon
Spring Chickadee Washi Tape Card, how to make it:
1. Cut white cardstock to size. Begin on the left, placing the flowered washi tape about 1/4″ from the edge. Add another flowered washi tape strip on the right side, about 1/4″ from the edge.
2. Working from both the left and right edges into the center of the cardstock, begin alternating tapes, overlapping each.
3. Trim off excess tape. Mat the piece on black cardstock.
4. Stamp the chickadee on white cardstock with black ink. Use the Spectrum Noir pens to color in. Mat on green, then black cardstock and glue to the card front.
5. Tie a bow in green ribbon and glue as shown.
So easy! And perfect for springtime greetings.
