Hi friends, and happy (belated!) New Year!
I re-organized my time lately in light of our Corona restrictions here in Germany… my fourth-grader has been remote schooling since the middle of December, which means my workday activities (and computer availability) were limited in favor of searching for Zoom links, uploading math worksheets and a fair bit of nagging reminding. I’m also writing a book for Search Press, so my design time has been focused on creating resin jewellery.
Now things have settled somewhat—mostly because we broke down and bought a second computer, so I’m no longer sharing during school time. This means I can catch up with blogging, email newsletters and videos. (Complete with 2″ root grow-outs.)
This is what it’s been like around here—
Filming for Paper Wishes Weekly Webisodes now happens at 6:30am, before anyone wakes up. But I usually have at least one curious feline “helper” with me. You can head on over to the Paper Wishes site to watch the Weekly Webisodes as well as my Mixed Media series. (Don’t feel you have to watch at 6:30!)
I’m busily resinning (pretty sure that’s not a word?!?) for my third book for Search Press, Modern Resin Jewellery. A lot of experimenting going on here—as with any concentrated design time, you’ll have some winners, some “learning opportunities” and some unexpected wins. For me, one big win is that I’ve fallen in love with resin moulds and can’t wait to share more. My other resin book, How to Make Resin Jewellery, came out 4 years ago… so it’s time for an update!
If you would like to know anything about sea lions, you’ve come to the right house. For fourth-grade math, I’m clearly not your best resource. (Dear Long Division, I didn’t enjoy you the first time around.)
And papercrafting! On Thursday, January 28, I’ll host a Facebook Live on the PaperArtsy People Facebook page—if you’re not already a member, you can click on over to join. Next week, several designers are launching new stamps and stencils, so you can join in every day with new inspiration. You’ll also be able to see the new launches on the PaperArtsy blog, where I’ll share a project featuring my favorite foiling technique!
That’s it for now.. I’ll be sure to pop in again soon with more blog posts and updates—until then, have a great week!
